Getting Started


How do I register to buy?
Register by clicking "Sign in" at the top right of the page.

How do I sign up as a seller?
In your profile click on the link Become a Seller to register as an auctionthing seller.

Is there a fee to get started?
There is no fee to register and there are no membership fees. We charge US $1.00 to sellers to verify credit cards during registration. Sellers are charged a commission fee when a lot is sold. The commission fee is 10% of the winning bid at the close of the auction.

How do I contact auctionthing?
Preferred contact is via e-mail. Alternatively you can give us a call at +1 212-598-4252 in the US or +49 (0)30-26 10 17 22 in Germany. Or try to skype auctionthing.

 

Bidding And Buying


How do I bid?
On the lot page, click the "Submit Bid" button. Then confirm or modify the bid.

How does the maximum bid service work?

You can bid the maximum amount that you are willing to pay for the lot. The maximum bid service then automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid.

How do I view the auctions I'm currently bidding on?
Go to your Account page.

How do I ask the seller a question?
You can use the Forum or contact the seller on his profile page. 

How can I pay for an item I've won?

After the close of an auction, you will receive an automated e-mail from noreply@auctionthing.net if you are the winning bidder. Within that e-mail, there will be a link to our Messaging Center. After clicking the link, you will be directed to your account. A message box will be open for you to communicate payment and shipping arrangements to the seller. The seller will receive a similar e-mail at the close of the auction and may contact you as well. 


Selling


How do I list an item for auction?
If you are a registered seller, select "Sell" on the top of the page and follow the directions.

What do I do if I can't find my artist in the drop down artists list?
You can still list an artist even if he isn't in the auctionthing database list. 

How do I add/upload photos to my lot?
At the bottom of the "Sell" page, you can upload image files. Images should be in JPG, GIF and PNG formats. Please don't upload images larger than 1024x768 pixels.

Can I change/edit my listing? 
You can edit your listing until there is a bid placed on it.  Use the edit button in the "Current Bid" column.

How do I contact the buyer?
After the close of an auction, you will receive an automated e-mail from noreply@auctionthing.net whether the auction lot sells. If the auction lot does sell, within that e-mail, there will be a link to our Messaging Center. After clicking the link, you will be directed to your account. A message box will be open for you to communicate payment and shipping arrangements to the buyer. The buyer will receive a similar e-mail at the close of the auction and may contact you as well.

 

Feedback


How do I leave feedback for a buyer or seller?
You may leave feedback for a buyer or seller after your transaction is completed.

How do I view my feedback and what is the rating scale?
You may access your feedback from your Profile page.
You should rate your impression of your transaction with another user based on the following scale: 1: Very Poor 2: Poor 3: Moderate 4: Good 5: Excellent
You may supplement this rating with a comment, which will be displayed on the user's Profile page.

Can I remove negative feedback or feedback left in error?
Generally, we cannot remove negative feedback unless it has been left as the result of a misunderstanding or in error.

 

Account Information and Billing


I do not receive e-mails from auctionthing.net, what do I do?
Some auctionthing e-mails are automatically generated and will arrive from the e-mail address noreply@auctionthing.net. An aggressive spam filter could possibly intercept these messages, so check your junk mail or spam folder and mark them as no spam.

I forgot my login name and/or password. What do I do?
If you forgot your password, you may click the "Request password" link at the login page. A new password will be generated and an e-mail will be sent to you. If you have forgotten both your login name and password, please contact us.

How do I change my password?
Go to your My Account page and click "Change Password."

How do I update my billing or contact information?
Visit your My Account page to view or change your billing or contact information.

How do I close my auctionthing account?
Send us an email.

 

Transaction Problems and Protections


How can I protect myself when buying on auctionthing?
All sellers are screened and/or audited by auctionthing. Your best protection is to follow the Terms of Use and conduct all business regarding the sale via auctionthing. If you buy an item that is not delivered as indicated in the description, the sale can be rescinded and your purchase price refunded. To receive a refund for a cancelled sale, please contact the seller directly. If you use paypal as payment method you could be protected by paypal's buyer protection program (check with paypal regarding applicable terms).

How do I report a seller or buyer for not completing a transaction?
Please contact us via email.

As a seller, how do I receive a refund for my commission fee for a cancelled sale?
Should auctionthing cancel a sale due to a non-paying buyer, please contact us for a possible refund of your seller commission.
